Being involved excites your kids and makes them proud of their club and their family. At Mount Druitt Little Athletics Centre we believe family is the base of our club and we hope to provide all participants with a fun, friendly and inspiring environment to attend each week.
Our club’s policy is that at least one parent must be in attendance at the field at all times while their children are competing at May Cowpe Reserve, Rooty Hill. ** Being in your car does not qualify **
Two Parent’s Only are required to assist our Age Managers with Spiking and Measuring.
NOTE: If an Age Group is unable to get 2 Parents to assist then the age group cannot attend the field until such time as the positions are filled. Exemptions are made in the case of an age group having parents assisting in official roles elsewhere. This will not apply to parents wanting to go with another child’s age group that already has extra parents wanting to help.
If these positions have been filled other areas of assistance that will be required are: Time Keeping, Place Judging, Starter or other duties as requested to ensure our competition nights flow smoothly to make it a shorter night for everyone. Any Parent wishing to take up a permanent position commitment over a few years will be issued as soon as possible a Mount Druitt Little Athletics Polo Shirt. Unlimited free tea or coffee only during Friday competition nights only is also provided and as well extends to age managers.
NOTE: Any child found not to have a parent in attendance this means “ON” the field will be removed from the night’s competition. ** Being in your car does not qualify **
These rules are in place to ensure that we can obtain rapid action if anything was to occur with the athlete on competition nights as well as ensuring parents meet their responsibility as helpers on the night.
Parents please also remember that before entering your child into a Special Event (ie: Zone, Region, Centre Championships etc) that you will be required to assist at these events on a roster system. If you are unable or unwilling for any reason to assist at Mount Druitt’s rostered events you will be jeopardising your child’s entry into these events and for awards as outlined in the Awards section of the Handbook.
We will be enforcing these rules
OFFICIALS:
All Centres are run by parents of Little Athletes registered with the Centre and other interested persons, most of whom have no prior knowledge of the sport. By helping your child and others each Friday night (or when available) enables us to finish competition on time - and not miss events before the lights go out. This assistance is both rewarding and enjoyable, particularly from your child's view point - athletics is a family sport.
Parents can assist in the following ways with little or no experience, YOU LEARN AS YOU GO:-Recording, timekeeping, place judging, starting, spraying, judging, measuring, raking, lifting high jump bars, retrieving etc. Please remember, failure to obtain sufficient officials each week places your child and others in jeopardy for competition participation through event cancellation and or unable to take the field to compete.
EXAMS FOR OFFICIALS:
The Association and the Zone encourages the qualification of officials and "simple" exams can be organised throughout the season, in conjunction with the Zone, for any parent/official who would like to further their experience and gain a "Certificate of Qualification" for one or several events. Please discuss with the Officer for Officials or the President.
The Book (N.F.G.O), Notes for Guidance of Officials is available through the Centre (which contains all event information and rules for the exams) for any interested persons.
EQUIPMENT:
Assistance is always required in setting up and packing away, please don't hesitate in this area, especially when the hurdles are in use, we are also seeking volunteers to assist with line marking, this is not an easy job but sure would be with more help.
